The newly revamped 2018 Chevrolet Traverse commands a bigger stance, offers more room, more tech and even more efficiency with its unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show. It was a nine-year road to this generation of Traverse, but the wait has been worth it. The 2017 Chevy Traverse is thinking big.
With a more truck-like look and feel, the Traverse shed 362 pounds from the body to make it quicker and more efficient. The profile looks less “soccer mom” and more “offroad Explorer” – as in Ford Explorer. Chevy also added two new trim levels, the sporty RS with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine and the swanky High Country with leather and suede seats and a power-folding third row. The rest of the trims are the same as before, including LS, LT, and Premier.
The base engine will be a hefty 3.6-liter variable valve V6 paired with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission that achieves 305 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. And thanks to the little diet in the body style, this lighter SUV will be zippier than its predecessors and more efficient. GM estimates the Traverse will earn 20 city/23 highway mpg for the V6.
The Traverse was already one of the most spacious SUVs available, but now there’s even more room in the rear seats because, thanks to the extended wheelbase, the third row doesn’t sit right on top of the wheels. And good news for growing families, the second row moves even with a child’s car seat in it, and there are added cubbies for extra storage throughout the vehicle.
Chevrolet ramped up the tech in this vehicle adding Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, a seven or eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, and USB ports for all three rows. Added features, like 360-degree cameras, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warnings, forward collision alert, and automatic braking puts this vehicle on the cutting edge of safety tech. And it gives you peace of mind behind the wheel.
You’ll love this vehicle from the moment you sit in the driver’s seat. Stay informed with your local Garber Chevrolet and be the first to know when this model is available.
